We Have a Social Worker

Its Thanksgiving eve eve and Nicki and I just finished watching our favorite show called "Parenthood" on NBC.  Its a sweet show about an extended family who have great love and support for one another as they share together in parenthood's variety of challenges.  This season, one of the families has adopted a boy named Victor.  We watch every Tuesday night to see how they transition to being his parents and how he transitions into a new family.  If you haven't watched this show it is a must watch.

Anyway, we have a quick update to pass along to you.  About one month ago we turned in our application which was kind of a big deal.  It included a whole bunch of questions about the health of our immediate and extended family relationships as well as our experiences growing up.  Pretty invasive but overall, not too scary.  After that was filled out and in the mail the next thing on our to-do list was a visit to the Dr. for a physical for me.  I hadn't had one of those in about 6 years, so it was probably  a good idea anyway.  So after a quick confirmation that I am pretty much awesome came in from the doc, the waiting game began again......until today.

This afternoon Nicki received our first call from our social worker.  She sounds like a nice lady.  We have our first interview for our home study scheduled for Thursday, December 13th.  Woo hoo.  Can't wait to meet Stacy and get things rolling once again.  One step closer to our kids.

What's up next?  We received in the mail yet another packet of paperwork to fill out.  Since we are late night people and my wife is a pretty organized person, we just might get at it yet tonight and try to get it in the mail before the holiday. Also on the schedule for Friday, November 30th and Saturday December 1st,  is our 2 day adopting kids with special needs class.  That's all folk!  Happy Thanksgiving!
