That's right there are only seven more links on our countdown. Every morning as we remove another link our kids shout from the top of their lungs "it's almost adoption day!!" and "it's getting closer!" It's great to know that although they may not fully grasp the magnitude of this event, they know that they're supposed to be excited! Our oldest daughter lately has been saying, "I love my mommy and daddy." Our son lately when he is in trouble has been saying, " I want my mommy" or "I want my daddy" or "I want Jesus". Its pretty cute.
Our house has been full of excitement and celebration lately. We had our very first birthday party last weekend. It was epic. We celebrated our oldest's rise to the maturity of a 4 year old and the twins rise to the craziness of 3 year olds. Since their birthdays are only a couple of weeks a part there was no way this mommy and daddy were going to pull off throwing two epic parties and so we celebrated all 3 birthdays with one epic party. With 3 kids practically the same age I don't know how we would have pulled off forcing one or two kids watching the other open gifts without a major meltdown. This way, everybody wins. Especially mommy and daddy. Both of our kids' grandparents, all of their aunts, all of their uncles, their one and only cousin and even a couple of their beloved babysitters were able to be there for this amazing celebration. We had two cakes, amazing food, a slip and slide, a kiddie pool, a bonfire with s'mores, and some of our family even camped out in the back yard. I am especially excited about more cars for my son and even a sweet dinosaur. And our daughters have pretty much been wearing their princess dresses everywhere. Then of course there's the new tire swing in the back yard that provides hours of enjoyment. Now only if they could agree on being spun or not being spun.
The really fun part about birthday celebration was taking our oldest daughter on a date for her real birthday. She didn't even know what a date was before Monday night, but she does now. It started out by going to the dollar tree and buying some sweet treats and some sweet superstar sunglasses for her special night. Then we went to her very first movie. It was hilarious. Let's just say that we don't usually let our kids down a box full of nerds within a half hour. By the middle of the movie she was off her seat and never sat back down. She was dancing to some sort of music in her head and could care less that there were sweet talking airplanes racing around the screen. It was fun and cute, but of course we explained that we do not do that often and that it is only for very special occasions.
For now here are a couple of pictures. But you only have to wait one more week to meet our kids. Next week we'll be able to put their beautiful faces on the blogosphere.
