So, How's it REALLY going?...

This has been the hot question of the month.  People give you that look when they ask it.... you know the look.  The kind that asks for depth, for something more than the automatic "doing good" response.  As much as we'd love to sit down and grab a cup of coffee (or tea in our case) and share the good, the bad, and the ugly the blog will have to do.  So here is the latest in no particular order.......

Adoption Day-  We are on track for August!  Last week we met with our social worker to begin the paperwork which needs to be finished and submitted before the actual date we finalize.  Since all the paperwork is times 3 it felt like we were signing our life away.  I suppose that statement is true in a sense.  We are beyond thrilled though, that things are going forward as planned.  There was a potential issue that needed to be resolved with their case that had great potential to slow it down.  God has once again shown Himself to be faithful because as of last week, that issue has been resolved.  It was the first social worker visit that ended with a non-stop smile on my face instead of trying to fight off worry and fear.  Thanks for your prayers.
Our Backyard Camping adventure set up and ready to go!

S'more anyone?

Camping with Toddlers-  Yes, we have officially decided to give it a whirl.... upgraded the tent and everything!  Over Memorial Day weekend we set up the tent and did a practice run with the kids.....from campfire etiquette to S'more making instruction and everything in between.  We put the kids to bed in the tent as a trial run.  After a few hours of racing back and fourth from one end to the other and jumping on the air mattress they finally collapsed and our neighborhood was once again quiet.  We decided it was successful enough so the real camping will commence later in July.

Over Memorial Day Weekend our kiddos also
"helped" us plant some raspberry plants.  Very excited about these!

Potty Training- One down, one to go.....well, kinda.  Depends on what your definition of "down" is.  Mine is able to hold it long enough to make it through a few hours of preschool next year so I can have a few hours to run errands!  Now onto our son who I do not think will catch on quite as quickly..... I think it's pretty safe to say we are all learning as we go.... says the Mom who literally threw away a few pair of expensive training underwear as opposed to having to clean them off....

Name Changes- Although we knew we would need to figure out any name changes with the kids, we assumed we would have until August.  Not the case.  We were told a few days before they needed them which kind of made us laugh.  Nothing about this process has been slow for us.  It took us a few days, but we have figured out the names.  I will leave that for another blog post though.

The amount of produce we now go through in a single week....

Eat, Drink, and do Laundry-  We are still trying to figure out and get use to the huge change that goes along with going from 2 to 5 in regards to laundry, meal planning, and grocery shopping.  Laundry continues to be one of the few household tasks I strongly dislike.  My husband says that is because I let it pile up for about 2 weeks before dedicating one full day to nonstop sorting, washing, drying, folding, and putting away.  Not much has changed with having kids other than a few additional loads that horrible day.  I am however, very thankful for my homemade laundry soap.  Works like a charm and saves money.  On the other end of the spectrum I love cooking and trying out the latest recipe on my family.  That hasn't changed and the kids are great about trying whatever we put in front of them.  Because we try to eat mostly "real food", my trips to the grocery store tend to be frequent and the amount of produce I buy for a week tends to feel a little insane..... and I have been told as they grow they will keep eating more!!!  Yikes.  So yea, still working on that one.  (Feel free to check out my other blog: The frugal find for a link to homemade laundry soap and real food eating)

Bread bowl Salad night was a hit!

Did I mention my love for laundry yet?....

Happy Summer Everyone!
