Summer's Moving Along!

I first have to begin this post by giving a shout out to my amazing husband - Happy First Father's Day!.... I do realize I am a few weeks behind but summer is on a role and sometimes it is hard to keep up.  Most years I would complain about how quickly our summer days are flying by, but not this year.  August really can't come soon enough.  Sure, we are enjoying the little things everyday brings and the fun new "family adventures" we are experiencing, but adoption day is the highly anticipated event always lingering in the back of our minds. We will be turning in our application for a court date next week and hopefully the next time you read this, will be able to share with you an actual date!  God has been so good, so overwhelmingly faithful to us throughout this entire process.  We continue to stand in awe of the way that He works.

In the meantime, day to day life is going well. We traveled down to see family over Father's Day weekend (and snuck in a quick date day while we had the babysitters!) and had a great time!  Father's Day itself was nice.  We "layed low" just the 5 of us as the kids mixed up "Happy Birthday" with "Happy Father's Day" over and over and over again.

We have also become a little too familiar with the phrase "this is why we don't own nice things."  Our kids have really been on a role lately and each new day the list grows of what is now a little too loved on by kids....  I started taking pictures of things as they broke, thinking it would make a funny blog post until they started breaking things like our kitchen chair......or peeled the fabric off our rocking chair...or beheaded Paul's Grandma's blown glass duck.... It quickly seemed more appropriate to put down the camera and pick up a box of kleenex instead.   Really though, there are 3 toddlers running around our house 24'7 and although they are great kids, they are still kids.  So for now we are just doing our best to respond calmly (which doesn't always happen) realizing that our response speaks volumes to our kids about what we value in life. Turns out it is not things.

Thankful to be able to celebrate another Father's Day with this guy....  even if it was at the hospital!

Spending our "date day" out on the water.
