Prepare Yourself to be BLOWN AWAY!!
On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11as
you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf
for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. (2 Corinthians 1:10b-11)
Get ready. This is going to come quick. So, three days ago you read about our heartbreak over losing the three kids that we had fallen in love with last week. Well, yesterday we met with our social worker and she told us that the placement with the other family fell through and they would like us to consider taking this placement. They wanted us to take a night to think about it, but God has clearly hand selected them to be our kids. So, beginning Friday, yes, this Friday, we will become their full-time respite care provider until our home study can be completed. Then once our home study is completed we will become their pre-adoptive foster parents. Six months after that we will be able to adopt them. In fact, tonight is the night that we will meet our children for the first time.
We cannot actually explain our emotions right now but I'll try to sum it up a little. Excited, shocked, scared, tired, overwhelmed, joyful, curious, doubtful, insecure, blessed, amazed, and freaked out! We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God has lead us down this path and He is the one that we give all of the glory and praise. Without Him, we wouldn't have even thought about adoption. Without Him, we wouldn't even have considered this placement. Without Him, this placement would have fallen through. Please join us in giving all praise and Glory to God.
One of the things that makes this process so difficult is that there is so little time between today and Friday. We have a home to get ready, shopping to do, things to learn and a whole lot of emotions to process through. We are already overwhelmed and we don't even know where to start.
So, I guess we start with a list of things we need. If you at all can allow us to borrow any of the following items until we are able to replace them with new items please email or call us. (715-210-0674 or nickibehnke@jacobswellec.org)
